Apple (the computer company, not The Beatles' record label) announced today that you will soon be able to run Windows XP on your Mac. Here's This Week's Discussion Question, Part Tres:
Why in hell would you put Windows on a Mac?Please keep the discussion civil and do not wander off into "Just because Bruce Springsteen could do an album of REO Speedwagon covers, doesn't mean he should."
Discuss.

not to be nitpicky and actually answer your question, but would that allow someone to view dvd-rom content? because so far, that's the only downside to macs that i've encountered.
Just wanted to say: "I love you, Man."

You probably already know this by now, but Apple released for free "boot strap" software so you can install Windows on a new Intel Mac via a partition or another drive.
The plus is that it might get some consumers that normally wouldn't consider buying a Mac to purchase one. Also those that do web development can check content without buying two computers. There are also some specialized software that isn't written for a Mac OS system (I've encountered some "in-house" written software from some clients).
Also, if someone who has never used the Mac OS could compare both and see why many find the Mac OS to be a more pleasurable experience.
To answer anonymous' question: Yes. SInce you would actually be installing Windows on a Mac. It isn't a Virtual situation. You can usually view DVD-ROM content on movie DVD's on a Mac (even the ones that say you can't). You just have to skip through the folders and bypass the interface.
Also look at this recent survey.
